Hello folks. A few messages for you that you may be interested in.

The recent outage was caused by a malicious attack on the server hosting this board. This resulted in the board being taken down by the hosting provider.

The board admin is changing. monchavo will be taking over from Frank as the host and provider of the board
The changeover has begun; the new board is already up and running with a new skin, latest version of PHPBB3 and is now smartphone and tablet friendly, with a responsive layout. I would appreciate your feedback as and when we move
The switchover will retain user accounts, password, private messages and all data posted on the board up until Midnight BST on April 11th 2014, when the board will be closed and the database shifted to the new provider
The new board will open on (or possibly even before!) Monday 14th April 2014 at the same URL

I'd like to thank Frank for his part in creating this place, for hosting the platform and for his considerable generosity in allowing me to repair and bring back the board after the malicious attack. I very much hope that I'll be able to keep the conversation going on this marvellous, disfunctional and crazy place long into the next decade.

Update:

The board has been moved successfully. I believe most things are intact. The domain will follow next week, so for now the test domain "clitar.com" will remain. Enjoy.

Nice work, Monchavo. Might be time to update the moderators in the aviation fora - many of them are no longer involved. I don't know if DMMoore was retained as a tribute, but since there is a permanent subforum devoted to remembering Don I don't personally see a need.

I don't want to put people's noses out of joint. I would like to put out a flag asking for volunteers for moderation.

I had thought of doing a full mailshot once the airdisaster.info domain is properly transferred (4 days?) and then starting some judicious pruning.

Any thoughts on driving traffic to the site would be useful too.

Wow, that's one smooth transition. I didn't even have to log in to post, it recognized the cookie from my last visit ages ago. Some fora will require my to log in to post even if I haven't vistited them for half a day only.
