11/7/2009, A great day.

Aviators sit in the shade of their weatherbeaten, fabric-covered biplanes, exchange hangar talk and tell stories of their barnstorming days before they take to the air again and fly toward the setting sun ....

However, the Spirit of Flyover airport is having its periodic airshow.

No visual contact at 3BS's house :( but lots of loud jet aeroplanies to be heard in the distance.

And, a sonic boom!

Of course, I'm sure it's cowboy improvisation and whatever service branch did it is on my no-fly list.

Finally, a cool off to seasonal temperatures, doing yard work, and...

The CAP flies over to scout and destroy German submarines and revolutionary-minded squid on Flyover’s rivers.

Unfortunately, perhaps this is old guys reliving other people’s glory in war birds that should have been parked in 1950 (see footnote)? For the moment, my slight disdain is suspended.

Footnote: I believe Stearmans enjoyed a useful life applying crop protection chemistry through most of the second half of last century.
