FAO Wonnzie

Aviators sit in the shade of their weatherbeaten, fabric-covered biplanes, exchange hangar talk and tell stories of their barnstorming days before they take to the air again and fly toward the setting sun ....

I heard you were in the market for an airplane. I haven't really followed what exactly you were looking for, though. Thought I'd post this email I got today:

The Skylane is orange and white and seems to be in pretty good shape. I know the Flight Department takes really good care of their airplanes and they're all in very good condition. Can't really say anything about the Chipmunks, though, because they're so old and I've never seen the second one assembled.

What were the King Airs used for?
Lately, as an excuse for the student newspaper to repeatedly slam the dept. of Aviation Technology for using too much money*. The King Airs and the Beechjet are/were used for transporting the university president, vice presidents, rich alumnae who we want donations from, etc., and to give the flight students some right-seat turbine time. With the state of the economy and the reduction in funds coming from the Indiana budget, the university is selling the King Airs for budgetary reasons and keeping the Beechjet. Given the difference in operating costs for a King Air and a jet, I guess the President (salary $500,000/year) thinks a status symbol is more important than taking the budget cut seriously. They're also selling off the fleet of ~14 ten year old Piper Warriors (in superb condition, I might add) and replacing them with Cirrus SR22s. That one really annoys me.

Flight Series 1: Administrators’ flights from IPFW total $62,000
Flight Series - Part 2: Coaches use flights to recruit new players
Flight Series - Part 3: Deans utilize aircraft for business, commencement purposes
Flight Series - Part 4: Trustee use flights to be "effective for Purdue"
Flight Series - Part 5: President utilizes aircraft for appearances, meetings

I don't make it down to the airport very much anymore so I'm not sure. I assume that they did, since in the past their airplanes have always sold well (very well-maintained, well-equipped, and not very old).

I myself have had the pleasure of flying N523PU and -526PU in my youth.

What's the difference between a Cadet and a Warrior?

The Cadet lacks aftmost windows and a baggage door. It's similar to the Cherokee 140, but with a 160hp engine.
