A passenger plane carrying 43 people crashed in Siberia shortly after taking off Monday morning, and Russian emergency officials said at least 16 were confirmed dead but at least 12 survived.
The ATR-72, a French-Italian-made twin-engine turboprop, operated by UTair was flying from Tyumen to the oil town of Surgut with 39 passengers and four crew.
The aircraft went down outside Tyumen, a major regional center in Siberia. The cause of the crash was not yet clear.
Emergency Situations Ministry spokeswoman Irina Andrianova said the 12 survivors were being flown to a hospital by helicopter. She said 16 bodies had been recovered so far.
The state RIA-Novosti news agency, citing rescue workers, said 17 people had survived the crash.
Russia has seen a string of deadly crashes in recent years. Some have been blamed on the use of aging Soviet-era aircraft, but industry experts point to a number of other problems, including poor crew training, crumbling airports, lax government controls and widespread neglect of safety in the pursuit of profits.

When you combine ATR, Siberia and Crash in one sentence, my first thought is ICE.
It's too soon to tell (let's wait for the final report ), but rumors are already ranging from "the de-icing process was not done completely to standards" to "the plane was not deiced period".

When you combine the words Russia and Airline my first thought is ....near certain fiery death and/or structural breakup within six months

I don't know what caused the accident from this CVR, but here's my initial reaction to something I read:
'AUTOPILOT ON'...IMMEDIATELY AFTER TAKEOFF?......I weep for the future of the piloting profession. What a joke. Might as well just sit up in the cockpit of your shiny jet with your cool sunglasses and leather jacket and look good. If I ever flew withan F/O who called for the 'autopilot on' that quickly, I'd tell him that was his last leg of the trip and let me know when he felt like flying.

Combine this CVR witht the METAR and the fact that the plane was not deiced before take-off, and while not definitive, we might have a hint.I don't know what caused the accident from this CVR
