Here's a VIDEO of a bunch of morons trying to hold onto the fence at SXM as a JetBlue plane departs. As it turns out, the guy tripping over the wall fracctured his leg and the girl who did the faceplant suffered a head injury. Now don't get me wrong, the tourists are idiots and deserve what's coming to them...there are all sorts of signs warning them not to do what they did. However, numerous pilots have noted that the Jetblue plane taxies onto and holds on the overrun/jetblast area (the part with yellow chevrons which can be better seen on an overhead shot of the airport). They're not supposed to be on this part of the pavement at all, much less taking off on it. At the :06 second mark, you can see the F/O with his window open, waving to the crowd....the crew then stands onthe brakes for what seems an excessive time. Others have noted that the crew seems to be 'waving' goodbye to the crowd by pumping on the elevators at the :18 sec mark, something you wouldn't normally do on takeoff. To me, it seems like a little bit of showboating.....again, the tourists bear their own responsibility, but I think this crew may have played a role as well. In any event, it's a reminder that nothing you do in life today can escape being caught on Video for all to see.

.......and if nothing else, the girl in the pink bikini who comes running in at the end has a smokin' hot body!

Let's think nice:

They were in the limit of the weight for that runway / weather. While being illegal, they decided to use the overrun for an extra margin. For that very reason, they waited for the engines to spool-up to full TOGA before releasing the brakes. And the FO opened his window to yell "move away, this is dangerous!" while making signs with his hand to make them go.

If it is what it seems to be, I mean that waved them with their hands and tail (elevator) and that they taxied that back (beyond the runway limits) and held the brakes for so long just to please the tourists with the show they wanted, this crew (both of them) should not only have their licences terminated for ever, but also a criminal prosecution for injuries should be in place (they KNEW that what they did was illegal and dangerous and still did it).

Nothing of that relieves the tourists from their responsibility and stupidity, of course.

I was there for a week and only spent maybe 4-5 hours at the beach bar, but it was worth it.



Continental pilots are more courteous than JetBlue pilots, apparently.

I have conflicting feelings on that matter (fence clinging, not the death of someone Brianie doesn't care about):
Do I consider it a dumb, dangerous thing to do? Yes.
Would I like a loved one doing it? No, not in the slightest.
Would I personally do it? Yes, I would absolutely love to.
