Just been watching it on the Indonesian news channel. The local TV showing many images of the plane that looks like it's come off the side of the runway in wet conditions earlier today. 737-400 Adam Air (Budget Airline) Flaps look fully deployed. and It looks like the engine on the left side has engaged reverse thrust. (reverse thrust cowl open on engine housing)
All doors open, but couldn't see any slides deployed. Aircraft reg was partly obscured from the camera angle but was PK-KK?.
Major damage to right hand engine which appears to have dug into the muddy ground and damage to right hand gear. I don't speak much Bahasa, but by the looks and sounds of thinks no deaths. Saw some footage of one person in hospital on a drip, but that's about it.
For those that don't know the area, Batam is a small island, a little bit bigger than Singapore situated just a few miles south of Singapore. The weather in the area has been pretty lousy for the last week or so with frequent heavy tropical rain storms.

Unfortunately, corruption and politics will keep it flying till the bitter end. Everybody is in eachothers pockets over there. You would never get me flying with any of that lot. I have a mate in aircraft leasing and the horror stories he tells me has put me off for life.

In one way or another, the operators (indonesian owners) will get away without penalty. Either, they will have enough clout in certain government circles to get the airline back up an running again, or they will resurface later on with another airline (probably with the same planes!!)
