I wonder who was entertained by whom.A young woman claims she was entertained in the cockpit for an entire flight back in 2011 by the co-pilot who was on board the Malaysian Airlines plane that went missing on Saturday.
Re: 777 Down?
Can it be hidden at the other side of the Möbius strip?Could the aircraft have been hidden in icloud?
Oh, wait, the Möbius strip doesn't have an "other side".
Re: 777 Down?
You know, it only really matters if the Möbius strip is infinitely thin, which ain't gonna happen in the real world. Can it be hidden at the other side of the Möbius strip?Could the aircraft have been hidden in icloud?

On 13 March The Wall Street Journal said US investigators believed the aircraft had remained capable of flying for another four hours after first disappearing from radar. US officials also said that they expected the search to be extended to the Indian Ocean.

Rolls-Royce concurs with Malaysia on missing jet's engine data
In other words, they agree the telemetry did not continue hours after the transponders were shut off. Rolls' statement came after "a US Official" had said there is an "indication" the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft may have crashed in the Indian Ocean.
Reuters) - Rolls-Royce said on Friday it concurred with the Malaysian government on engine data, after Malaysia denied reports that a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet may have flown on for hours after it vanished from radar screens.
The Wall Street Journal said U.S. aviation investigators and national security officials believed the plane flew for a total of five hours, based on data automatically downloaded and sent to the ground from the Boeing 777's Rolls-Royce engines as part of a standard monitoring programme. ()
Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said on Thursday that the reports were not true. He said the last transmission from the aircraft was at 01:07 a.m. on March 8, indicating that everything was normal. The plane took off from Kuala Lumpur at 12:41 a.m. (1641 GMT on March 7).
"Rolls-Royce concurs with the statement made on Thursday, 13 March, by Malaysia's Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein regarding engine health monitoring data received from the aircraft," said a spokeswoman for the company.
"Rolls-Royce continues to provide its full support to the authorities and Malaysia Airlines."
The investigation into the disappearance of the jetliner is focusing more on a suspicion the flight was deliberately diverted, as evidence suggests it was last headed out over the Andaman Islands, sources familiar with the Malaysian probe said.

Re: 777 Down?
One thing is clear: it's been a gratuitous cluster-f*** of a PR disaster by the Malaysians. Never before have I seen such an incompetent group of people, apparently ill-used to pressure. Leaks, conflicting messages. It is awfully shambolic. Get some fúcking media training, you numpties!

I don't recall the Brazillians or the French screwing it up so royally after the twat AF co-pilot dunked their 330 in the drink. Seriously guys, a smidgen of media training and an understanding of how important it is NOT to bow to media requests for excessive amounts of information. And you've been a member of this message board for how long?Never before have I seen such an incompetent group of people, apparently ill-used to pressure. That's almost as important as a good instrument scan including your airspeed indicator and power settings when hand flying and landing...

Chinese ship has picked up some 'pings'. Also an Aust. ship has picked up 'pings' in another area. There is a British nuke sniffing around out there as well. Mefinks that they may be playing 'wargames'

Contact from the Aus ship was for two hours and twenty minutes and then 13 minutes. Ocean depth between 4000 and 5000 metres.

Ocean Shield (aka Aus ship) made another 2 contacts. 4 in total for them.
In the second one they identified two sources.

Re: 777 Down?
Well, Clarín (in Spanish) confirms -according to experts from AJACC and the "blackbox manufacturer", via the Malaysian newspaper "New Straits Times" - the signals ARE from a blackbox ... But it isn't known if they are from MH370 .
With all those airplanes crashing in that area in the last 30 days you can never be sure.

Re: 777 Down?
Not only that, but Clarín (well, a reader's comment in fact) also confirms that the plane was kidnapped by aliens, offering as evidence crop circles with the Malaysian logo.

RAAF AP-3C Orion Aircraft recorded an acoustic signal, likely from a man-made source, in the vicinity of ADV Ocean Shield.Ocean Shield (aka Aus ship) made another 2 contacts. 4 in total for them.

If MH 370 is not there, then now we have a bigger mystery than "Where is MH 370?"

Re: 777 Down?
There's some interesting but baseless speculation about "acoustic arrays" capable of detecting submarine movements. Not explored this particular avenue before in any depth (no pun intended). There's a view that the "splash" would have been recorded by such an array. Interested in the mathematics (and physics) of such a claim.

Guess how many revs/min a slow-speed diesel's propeller turns when doing, say 5 -7 knots? I'd guess around 60. I'm quite sure those searching are aware of this, just saying that locating the black boxes is not all that easy.In the frequency range of 20-500 Hz, ambient noise is primarily due to noise generated by distant shipping.

Re: 777 Down?
Yes, that's why the pingers work in the zone of the 30 to 40 kHz (nominal 37500 Hz, beyond the audible frequencies and hence "ultrasound").
Not that the ocean will be completely quiet there either.

Unconfirmed reports that the co-pilot's phone "tried to make a call" in the local press.
