I find two things more than a little strange:

1. That a fighter aircraft (a German one, at that) was designed with a fuel system not suitable for inverted flight.

2. That this was presumably this pilot's first time flying the thing inverted, else he would have known the engine was likely to quit.

Contributing factors include that the Europeans have to call wheat corn and corn maize.
