NEAR TOTAL GROUND DISASTER

Postby elaw » Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:23 pm

Runaway truck hits Jetblue plane sitting at the gate at Boston Logan: http://www.bostonherald.com/news/local_ ... e_at_logan

Funny how all the media outlets are calling the vehicle a "van" when apparently in reality it's a fueling truck. I think it's the kind that just pumps fuel from a port in the tarmac to the plane, not one with its own tank of fuel but still...

Passengers were told that there was significant damage to the plane and asked to deplane. Those passengers were moved to the second plane — the one that was narrowly hit by the wayward van — to continue on to Tampa
Narrowly missed surely, or is this another North American usage with which I am unfamiliar?

I think your understanding is correct... it's probably just a typo. Hopefully!
