Mid air collision in Argentina: Cessna 150 and a Petrel 912i

Postby Not_Karl » Wed Mar 09, 2016 3:45 pm

Three dead, one badly injured.
Linky in Español.

The Aeroitba Petrel 912i is an Argentinean plane based on the Rans S-6 (the picture on Wikipedia's article corresponds to the one that crashed, LV-BSH).

Evan's correctness about unregulated cowboy idiocy (or old fashioned bad luck from living life instead of spending all of it studying procedures and posting on aviation fora): 10,214.

:(
Fixed.

So many procedures to read, so little time to live...

No sé nada del Reglamento o reglamentación de Aviación Federal de Argentina y el Manual de Información del Aviador de Argentina.

However, in Sweet Monkey River in the independent nation of Texas and the The United States of Trumptopia, we recommend (though do not require), liberal use of Mark IV passive radar using bandwidths of 300-800 NM (that's a very small fraction of an inch for the non-metric bunch). and use of radios to communicate aircraft positions.

Still, blind spots exist on aircraft and close calls (including so close that you hit) do happen.

I do believe it is against reglamento de Aviación Federal de Trumptopia for aircraft to hit each other- so at least some procedures exist.

Indeed we should stress the need for maximum vigilance when operating in El Cielo Grande.

No tome las cosas con calma escaneando para el tráfico de avión.

Yo tampoco (ni de Argentina ni de ningún otro país).

We need Gabe's input in this thread.
