New Rules
Over 16 years old
Line of sight

Drone weight 25 kg (55lbs) max :o

That sounds like a lot of potential energy to me ......

Are they allowed to carry heat? 25 kg enables serious fire power.

....and even if you abide by the rules, you can still be jailed for reckless endangerment.

...as well you should be!

"Reckless endangerment" was a legal concept decades before drones existed, and drones don't get any special exemption from it. In short, if you do something stupid that causes harm to someone, you'll be held responsible for it.

Having said that, I do think 30 days in jail is a little excessive.

All the extremes are bad. Including the other one that says that you need to register with the FAA your drone if it weights .55lb (yes, there is a point there). The "55lb" maximum mentioned there is for the on-line registration. You can register and fly heavier drones.

There is much talk in the aggie world of what is essentially good old fashioned crop dusting with autonomous drones. I can see where 55 lb would be beneficial. FWIW, these tend to be at FL410 (Foot level 4.10), and probably operate from the field edge, as opposed to operating from an airport. I am not sure how well they really work for a 100-acre (40 HA) field, and I also see fertilizer as problematic, but over in Japan with 1HA farms, and spare no expense...
