Actually I think in most cases that kind of power loss in an engine would result in a #2.

On a slightly more serious note, did anyone else notice the engine seemed to be running even after the plane came to a stop? And the plane was clearly controllable so I wonder what the mechanical issue actually was. Maybe something like loss of oil pressure and the guy got it down before the engine died completely?

WOW...actual discussion (and arm-chair Monday AM quarterbacking)

Seemed like a nice landing (especially to merge into a gap in traffic- LOL).

Yeah...the prop was spinning at a really good clip after they stopped...I think in the old, cheapskate cowboy culture, you'd make an effort to shut down the engine as soon as your safety (landing) was assured, to prevent damage to the engine.

Of course, modern safety culture...maybe your safety is not ultimately secured until you get off the highway- so screw the engine and keep it there in case a semi is barreling down on you. My cheapo cowboy (and imaginary) procedure would have been to kill the engine right after touchdown....

blah blah blah parlour talk blah blah blah...

I did note it. Maybe it was a partial power loss. Something similar to this one (you may want to skip until 2:30)
