Re: Another beautiful classic gone: "Bluebonnet Belle" DC-3
1. The line "That's history there" was a bit too prophetic.
2. I looked at it several times- and then the guy starts saying "oh crap" I can't see or hear anything particularly wrong (however see below).
3. Since we live for totally unsubstantiated parlour talk, I will bet an adult alcho-beverage that a control lock was in place.
Because:
You typically see the tail of a tail dragger lift off early in the takeoff run- However, here, the plane seems to remain tail down, and then lift off in a very slowy-mushy-stally-spinny fashion- with no indication of nosing over to build speed.
Also to be an overly bold parlour talker, that would NEVER happen to me because I would instantly abort well before V1 (which maybe, in a perfect world, they should have done here).
Fortunately they aborted (or the plane aborted for them) before V3BS.
I liked the livery, I like DC-3's, sad deal, glad no one was killed.

Also, since I am perfect (from my keyboard especially) I would most definitely have removed control locks and performed control checks. /normal pontification.

Which incidentally could have an effect very similar to that of a meteorite jammed in the elevator.I will bet an adult alcho-beverage that a control lock was in place.

Indeed.
We may have to wait for the final report.

I think that the plane is deviating to the left of the runway, hence the "oh crap". Not sure though.2. I looked at it several times- and then the guy starts saying "oh crap" I can't see or hear anything particularly wrong (however see below).
Nice guess, and nice how you supported it.3. Since we live for totally unsubstantiated parlour talk, I will bet an adult alcho-beverage that a control lock was in place.

I must confess to being smugly satisfied with it.

Since I like to read in things that you do not say...is this a hidden jab elsewhere that I am not_supporting my argument this with credentials?...and nice how you supported it.

It is an interesting idea, I first thought you were crazy but then you explained it and it made sense. I mean, I have no idea if you are correct or not. But I liked your reasoning which involved explaining why you thought that and not showing off credentials to "prove" that you are right (as if credentials had the power to do so).Since I like to read in things that you do not say...is this a hidden jab elsewhere that I am not_supporting my argument this with credentials?...and nice how you supported it.

Far be it from me to put words into another fellow's mouth, but the possibility that "phugoid" is intended as a somewhat contrived homonym cannot be excluded.Phugoid what?
Phugoid.
