Sunwings Total Approach Light Disaster

Postby 3WE » Fri Jan 04, 2019 8:53 am

Wrong temperature entry into a computer FMS = An overly long takeoff and clipped approach light after lift off.

Ericie and Schwartzie question the system design. Maybe me too.

Evanie and Gabie go back and forth on how bad humans are.

Another reason to ban aeroplanies, caries, bicycleies, and Mattel Big Wheel trikeies.

I think that everybody agrees with that. There is a reason why Boeing issued a software revision that incorporates the crosscheck of the entered OAT with the measured OAT, Boeing issued a service bulletin to update the software accordingly, and the AIAB is recommending to the FAA that they make an AD out of that SB,

From the AAIB's preliminary report:
It is recommended that the Federal Aviation Administration, mandate the use of Flight Management Computer software revision U12.0, or later revision incorporating the outside air temperature crosscheck, for operators of Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft.

It is recommended that The Boeing Company promulgates to all 737 operators the information contained within this Special Bulletin and reminds them of previous similar occurrences reported in the Boeing 737 Flight Crew Operations Manual Bulletin dated December 2014.

Wrong. The pilots need lights to see where to land.

The use of a conveyor belt; however, would seem to have some promise and would allow essentially unlimited runway for liftoff.

Right... Like taxiways and, occasionally, motorways...
