Cessna Citation makes good landing and crops maize at the same time (Argentina, Dec 28th 2019)

Postby Not_Karl » Sat Feb 08, 2020 5:17 am

Not_perfect, as the aeroplanie will need some checks and repairs to fly again.
Power loss on both engines during a test flight for the new owners. Aeroplanie had been recently serviced in the USA.
(Old news, happened December 28th and Not_Karlie forgot to post).
Photo gallery.
(at first I read the reg as "LV-FOD", which would have been nice)

Google translated article with post-cropping video of the turbinies.

You pilots can only DREAM of plowing corn, I LIVE IT!

Root cause: The farmer ate bad fish. Ban all meal service.

PNF: Estsas to cosechando maize?

PF: Si, QRH por favor.

Indeed. Should we ban all corn?

Indeed.

Second recent incident of corn damaging aeroplanies + a statistical correlation that if you fly near corn, there is an increased risk of crashing into corn.

Not true. Chances of crashing into corn are zero unless you take-off. So take-off is the only thing that increases your chances of crashing into corn.

wrong
You could overrun the runway into a corn field without taking-off.

Listen to you two. You will never understand. what it’s like to pull into a field with a multi ton 12 row planter behind you and no GPS/RTK to keep the rows straight, with approaching thunderstorms.

If you apply full brakes in one of those will it get full unrestricted pressure?

I think so.

But if you disagree, I won’t cite my credentials and argue.

Logically, with a top speed of 15 knots, a rejected planter pass doesn’t really need extreme braking.

Do, be aware that modern planters have more more cheap composites, and some moderately sophisticated electronic wizardry that makes sure the seed distribution system is working.

By the way, I am deeply offended that Gabriel and Not_Karl were playing in a Citation AND a cornfield and I was not invited!

I could have at least taken some jetpictures (or cornpictures) with significant foreground (or background) clutter.

Indeed, but I don't want to congratulate the pilots until we are sure that the power loss was Not_the result of them monkeying with circuit breakers, cowboying with procedure or improvising. Surely 3WEie agrees (references to there).

Another one!

Yet again Mar del Plata, yet again power loss, yet again forced landing in a corn field.
We NEED to URGENTLY ban corn... Or are we waiting for a total air disaster?

Googlie translated article with pictures (it was an Aero Boero 180).

Indeed, this is disturbing.

However, I want to hear what Mentor Pilot and Sully Sullenberger have to say.

I would hate to have unintended consequences such as a NEAR TOTAL SOYBEAN DISASTER!!!!!

What does it take to have a "delete post" function like, you know, any other internet forum?
