Not_Aligned on Landing

Postby 3WE » Wed Feb 10, 2021 1:41 pm

Interesting video.

I’m curious as to what happened...and they also seem to try too hard to salvage it before hitting the coal levers to go-around.

Then again, this is all ass-hat outsider parlour talk.

On behalf of Evanie, the reckless idiot improvising cowboy monkey pilots should be beaten publicly.

In spite of the title, it doesn't look to me like they "missed" the runway. Came in with a wicked crab, tried to decrab it, maybe slightly late decided it wasn't going as they hoped, and went around. Hardly a perfect maneuver but it looks like nobody did died.

Indeed and Concur.

What I saw was a distinct turn to the left, much too soon to be a “decrabbing”, IMO.

Wanton speculation- the PF transitioned from the instruments to the 400-700 nm dual passive radar and thought he saw the runway to the left (maybe even runway something something left)...then saw the right runway (in both the relative AND correct meanings).

By the way, the ERJ, and it’s goofy yoke, worked perfectly and again achieved a not_crash.

I was going to say that the pilot probably temporarily lost sight of the runway while maneuvering to line up with the runway.
But I was thinking of this other case (where everybody lived too but it was still a crash, even if a minor one, or ask the wing tip)

A very clear comparison of the greater safety of an ERJ vs. a 737!

The view out the window of the sharp angle of the aeroplaniee vs. the runwayiee is remarkable in both of these.

I thought an STC was required for that sort of thing?
