I spent the day at La Ferte Alais Airshow on Saturday with my youngest son Jacques. I watched the planes, and he took the photos.....

Excellent picture Rabbi O'. You can be proud of Jaques, tell him I said so. Having him taking the pictures probably allowed you one pint in each hand, no?

Some of those aircraft appear to be made from cheap composites

Great pics, thanks for sharing.

I wish...Unfortunately, as Jacques is 15, I was the designated driver.

We didn't take any pictures of one of the best bits of the airshow as we were just gazing skywards with our jaws agape :o
Anyway it deserved video rather than stills......

This was the aerobatics display of an EVAA (French Airforce Aerobatics Team) pilot flying an Extra 330sc. At the end of his show he signed off by flying along the runway at about 200 ft, performing a flat 90 deg turn until he was flying sideways facing the crowd, dipping the nose to salute the crowd, rotating back 90 deg and continuing on his way.

I have no idea how this is possible...........

A stunning collection of obsolete war planes!
When you look at them with hindsight some of the design choices seem bizarre though , like the A400...

...like the A400...
Oh, I just thought that was a special effect inserted in post-production.

The only other four-engined plane there also had some unusual design choices.

this thing however gives me the screaming heebiegeebies. It's made of meccano and human skin!
