Jet Blue Thinking About Europe

JetBlue Considers Adding Routes to Europe - Carrier places orders for 30 more Airbus A321s
Excerpt:
JetBlue said it placed orders for 30 new single-aisle A321 planes from Airbus Group SE, some of which will be used for the carrier’s premium Mint service that flies on transcontinental routes and to the Caribbean.
But some of them could be configured in a long-range version, which includes a new type of engine, extra fuel tanks, and heavier landing gear, and offer the “potential to consider markets in Europe,” said Mr. Hayes. Airbus plans to offer the new version in 2019.
JetBlue will need to decide by late 2017 whether to opt for some of the long-haul variants, the CEO said, because it could take 12 to 18 months for the carrier to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration to fly so far over water with just two engines.

Interesting that recent reports show other airlines planning to cut capacity to Europe due to an economic slump after Britain decided to leave the EU. In a related matter, WestJet recently picked up some former Quants 767-300ER's - their reliability has caused some initial service problems.

JetBlue has talked about this before, especially after the LH cash infusion.
