Well... an engine that's consuming oil is an engine that's running... and that's better than one that's not!

If there is no oil UNDER a radial engine, that can only be because there is no oil IN the radial engine.

Quite an undertaking, a restoration like that. Consider that it took Lufthansa (with all their resources) three airplanes to build one.

And once you've restored it, you have to maintain it!
I remember seeing an interview with someone from a group that had restored a WWII bomber - I think it was the Commemorative Air Force and the B-17. The guy said that altogether it cost about $20,000 an hour to operate the aircraft... ouch!
