Indeed, we still can't believe this photo for the Air Florida flight.

-The bridge looks wrong
-The engines look wrong
-The livery looks wrong
-Even the colors within the livery look wrong
-The cars look wrong (a bit too modern for 1980
-The amount of snowfall looks wrong

Absolutely unbelievable!

Hoping their advertisers are nevertheless happy with the number of hits.

Dude,

You really need to quit being so narrow minded! Everything (about the aircraft at least) in that photo is easily explained:
  • The force of the initial impact caused the engines to detach from the rear of the aircraft. Since they had forward momentum and were also still producing power (the fuel lines stretch), they moved forward relative to the rest of the aircraft and just happened to get caught under the wings.
  • The sudden deceleration of the engines when they got caught on the wings squashed the fan casings longitudinally. This caused them to expand radially, along with the fan blades, increasing the bypass ratio of the engines and giving them the appearance seen in the photo.
  • A similar effect happened with the fuselage as a result of deceleration from the initial impact. The fuselage was shortened in length and increased in diameter. You can't see it in the photo but each "window seat" in the aircraft is now a foot from the window.
  • The impact also dislodged all the ice and snow from both the bridge and the aircraft. The shockwave from the impact displaced all the snow that was airborne for a moment, and by a stroke of luck the photo was taken at that exact moment.
  • When the plane initially hit the bridge it was in a nose-up attitude. The impact caused a shock wave that traveled through the fuselage, tilting the plane into a nose-down attitude. As a result of that motion, an effect similar to what happened with the engines also occurred with the horizontal stabilizer - it came loose from the top of the vertical stabilizer, slid down it, and got caught when it got to the wider fuselage section at the bottom.
But the livery is clearly Photoshopped.

Noted.

However, I hope you would concur that there is excessive foreground clutter, overly soft focus, and a bad color histogram, and poorly cropped; so, even though it is an impressive, actual, long-lost photo of the moment of impact, it is not of adequate quality to be entered into the photo database.

Indeed!

Also most of the photo is sunlit but some of the underside of the left wing is illuminated by flames, thus making the color balance incorrect in that portion of the image.

Indeed, we still can't believe this photo for the Air Florida flight.
Well, it says it is an Air Florida Flight, but not which one. This is totally a REAL totalairdisasterphoto of an Air Florida flight (Not_90), more recent, with a leased aircraft :P .

A rear-engined 737?

Concur. It is also a night shot.

Thank you for the clarification (and noticing that it is a night shot).

Instead of a specific single crash where a pilot dutifully ignored his improvisational cowboy feeling that he should abort OR firewall the engines in violation of carefully computed power settings, and instead following the official, trained, type specific takeoff procedure of monitoring EPR and V1 and V2 (without TOPMS OR a Boeing Bobby speed check) (See footnote)....

The actual photographed crash is one of several hundred where an Airbus with FBW did things that were totally against all fundamentals, with the CVR containing the words, "What's it doing now"...although perhaps in this case it's 'why is it steering towards this bridge...I've been pulling up the whole time'.

Footnote: Yes, Evan, they did botch the procedures of engine anti-ice, attempted reverse thrust powerback in snow, and wing deicing, and maybe the CRM was a shred off.

Curious that the gear doors are intact (and open) but all the gear seems to have sheared off and been left behind on the rwy.
