Flight Report (and Flyboy Appreciation Moment)

Postby 3WE » Sun Dec 02, 2018 8:31 pm

Mrs. 3WE Flew to Orlando and reported much strangeness.

Tons of rug rats and old farts.

After WN coerced her into trading points for boarding position A2- tons of folks (families and old farts) preboarded.

Apparently, during the flight THREE separate people suffered some medical issues- enough that there was PA announcement "is there a Dr. on board" and 3 ambulances met the flight.

I am guessing that this situation not particularly rare...

Would Doctor Flyboy care to share stories or a guestimate of how often he gets to be met by EMS?

Anyway- Kudos for another version of some garbage you must deal with- LOTS of old folks who probably already know they shouldn't be flying.

From a humorous standpoint- maybe on flights to Orlando, it's actually helpful to inform the crew if you have paramedic-level training and are willing to assist?

Oh, also Mrs. 3WE took an exit window and the middle seat was empty. The FA said, "we can't have that seat empty" and proceeded to give a free drink to a pax to take that seat.

So...Where was Mrs. 3WE's drink for losing some elbow room (should I consult with Tee Vee with a complaint?)
AND, yeah, great logic...let's get the exit row folks buzzed so they can perform to high standards assisting the crew in the event of an emergency.

Not near as much as you'd think, especially being based in Florida the last few years. I'd say in my whole career (almost 13 years) I've had fewer than 10 EMS encounters while operating a flight with probably a further 5 when I was a passenger. Most were not in Florida, and, FWIW, Orlando is certainly not the epicenter of that. Tampa area and South of Tampa along the Gulf Coast (also known as Heaven's Waiting Room) gets way more of that.

Now, rugrats are a whole different matter entirely.

Marginally ambulatory and likely to suffer from significant O2 stress at a pressure altitude of 8,000 ft and definitely unfit to sit in the exit row.

You may be close, but I assume, not there yet.
