I found an excellent YouTube site produced by "JayZ" a jet engine mechanic that operates a repair business in NW Canada. Most of his work is on "industrial gas engines" used for pipeline operation or electrical generation but he also rebuilds older turbojet engines for historic military aircraft. He has something like 100 sessions where he answers questions and discusses such things as the differences in maintenance standards for industrial vs airliner engines, why jets make clicking sounds when they are slowing to a stop and even removes the fan from a CF 6 (used in DC 10's) to convert it into a industrial engine. You can learn how to lockwire critical engine bolts or see how much force it takes to break a turbine blade when hitting it with a hammer.
Here is an introductory video for his site including the sounds of a RR Olympus engine starting up.

Now you can Not_only land the aeroplanie if the crew gets food poisoning, but also get out and fix explody turbinies!Concur.

Re: Want to Learn About Jets?
This one is particularly interesting - it discusses FOD around test engines, why older engines are used for industrial purposes and fuel controls.

Instead I wish to provide strong advice to the industry regarding maintenance procedures.
They are profit-driven, and in need of more regulation.

“There is no such thing as suction”

Ok, I’m tired of his attitude. I’m sure that individuals who have (unfortunately) been sucked into jet engines, or would they still be alive had they recognized it’s not suction, but reduced pressure.
I know that folks say there’s no such thing as suction, but conceptually, there is, just like there’s centrifugal force...semantically they just almost exist.

Agent JZ visits Oshkosh flight line, flies in jet trainer, etc. Said at the end of the week he almost ignored a P51 starting up due to the sensory overload.
