Ok, sure. And it works at high angles of attack when the airfoil is stalled why?
Because stalled (even horribly stalled) airfoils still deflect air and hence produce lift (although if not as much as non-stalled ones) and kites are lightweight.
If you ever experienced a full stall in an airplane, you know that it doesn't go from 1G to 0G, not even remotely close. If it's not 0G, then it is not 0 lift.
Stalled airfoils lift peaks at 45 degrees of angle of attack, but with said peak lift being smaller than the peak lift pre-stall that happens at say 15 degrees.

How does the title of this thread go?

Does that say that angled flatfish surfaces shove air “down”?

PS- the stall break is still impressive

I would say that flatfish shove water as they please.

What that chart doesn't show (but this other one does) is that, while the lift at 45 degrees is comparable to the peak pre-stall lift, the drag is some 100 times higher than that a normal flight regimes, and bigger than the lift itself, giving an L/D ratio (i.e. glide ratio) of less than 1:1, not much better than a brick.

A double post, but I suspect better appreciation here.

It seems to create a lot of dangerous wake turbulence, I hope there are strict separation rules for smaller products like cheap-composite-crackerbox-French fries...

Separation rules? That's not enough. Ban all cheeseburgers!

A burger without cheese is like an airline seat without enough legroom... just wrong.

Seems to me that a measured pull up was in order.

By the way, I'd prefer to order it without lettuce.

I think that's the correct explanation of what I was trying to say before...

Enough is enough. Time to call the experts.

Aren't those NASA guys the ones behind that wacky "round Earth" conspiracy? Surely they also claim that "wings work".... :?

I believe that the ones behind it are the Illuminati free mason reptilian Zionists, but NASA is certainly also part of that, together with every sailor, pilot, airline, astrophysicist, amateur astronomer, critical thinker, rational individual, and sane person. This small group wants to control the minds of rest of the humanity (with the rest of the humanity being the flat Earthers).

Indeed. And don't forget the Anunnaki from Nibiru.

Interesting comment.

I believe that wings do work, but possibly they don't work all that great?

And clearly WE haven't learned much:

I am remiss in not reporting on my April edition of Aviation Typists.

Of particular note is that Peter Garrison writes of wing shapes and inverted flight. I suspect that Peter must be lurking here or there. More evidence of lurking is that I don't think were seeing as many Melmoth articles.

Sam Weigel has an article throwing the Boeing Bobbies of the world under the bus as old pilots retire and the young generation takes over- although even Sammy gets perturbed at the younger children whipping out smart phones to tweet in-cockpit videos.

Not_Karl's uncle Dick played with business jets and took pics at St. Maarten...I was conflicted by a photograph of an aeroplanie and a bikini. Lots of distracting background clutter wherever he submitted the photo.

It appears Les Moustature took the month off to enjoy retirement (He's back in the May issue with some crazy article I haven't read yet).

Finally, and most importantly, is an ad on Page 67 where us guys can order a special pheromone to attract more women. I assume that Dummy and Flyboy and ITS and Boeing Bobby give this place much business.

Oh, and one more thing- the Harbor Freight insert with lots of great deals, a free flashlight and 20% off coupon.
