Greedy CEO's , Wall Street, Lack of government oversight, More backups and procedures needed...and NO WAY is it electronic/automation.

Did the admin pull up, relentlessly or the spam filter trim nose-down, relentlessly.

Top 10 reasons JP.net might be down:
 1. Gabe wrote a post so long it crashed the server.
 2. Mods got fed up with Evan's attitude and shut the forums down.
 3. Someone pulled a CB. Cumulonimbus or circuit breaker... whichever you prefer.
 4. Previously unknown, undocumented, and untrained-on MCAS-like system "downed" the server.
 5. Neverending beating-a-dead-horse arguments about automation wore out their Internet connection.
 6. A photo was submitted that their AI could not find a reason to reject and it got stuck in a loop.
 7. Plane crashed into the hosting site.
 8. On-site network admin got stuck in too-small bathroom, did died.
 9. WWW "ground stop".
Damn that's all I can think of... anyone else?

Eric's ADDITIONAL reasons
-Caultrons
-Kilroy didn't have a backup
-UA Legal dept (in cooperation with marketing) filed a defamation lawsuit on the Debarcle thread (TeeVee on retainer with them)
-The server was on a laptop on the ERJ on November 11 and Brian exercised his size 14 paramedic feet when the owner tried to grab it during the evacutation.
-Evan was sighted riding an airliner and the universe shifted (disrupting the server)
-ITS tried to log in
-A relentless pull up on the power cord to the server
-A person got one too many rejections and saw one too many accepted photographs that were no better (some worse) than his and, in anger, learned how to hack and sabotage websites.
-Three words: Kim Jong-Un
-An outsider forumite got to take over for a food-poisoned crew and land the plane (more universe shifts) (PS, Wadn't me)
-Evan rode a bicycle and made at least some level of human error (as to whether he crashded or not?)

Maybe it simply couldn't exist without my irreplaceable input.

Update on there

Postby 3WE » Wed Nov 13, 2019 9:12 pm

Jetpictures is still there. AND it seems to imply that there is forum traffic- but I could not_get to the forums from the links on the home page.

I believe there is some possibility that we have all been uber-banned so that not only can't we POST, we can't even SEE the discussions.

I found this: https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/9511259

I mean it's cool and all how they nail the aeroplanie (and pilotie) all nice and crisply focused and bright and all, but all that background clutter ....yeah, it's blurred, but I really do see trees and buildings as a nasty distractions....

And (for the umpteenth time) where is the 2/3 - 1/3 composure & tasteful cropping???

Kilroy musta finally had a "phugoid it all!" moment. Not a second too soon, I might add.

Should we expect an influx of JP refugees?

Didn't he have a "phugoid it all!" moment years ago and sold JP to FlightRadar24?

We got a strong spam attack on our forum last Sunday and we got no choice other than to shut it down for a few days. It should be back online today.

Also translation- It SHOULD be back online "today", unless we sense that Gabe & Evan are overly enthusiastic, then we may delay it (which they apparently have since it's not tomorrow).

They provided that response today early AM, it is still today now and will be still today for about another 12 hours (in my timezone at least), so they still didn't default their ETA.

I'm seeing a very simple landing page (pun intended) with reference to fora but no actual fora.

It also looks to me like a fresh install of forum software, not just turning-back-on something that was shut off a few days ago.

Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, sometimes newer software is actually better! Sometimes.

I posted a funny there...

But I do find some ironing in the endless Evan-Gabe back and forth on HOW to design computer systems and the Computer-Human thing and how it's analogous to Outside Amateur Asshat Parlour Talk Forum Computer Performance (OAAPTFCP, for the acronym lovers).
