The SR-71 had a tripple boom.

Sane basic reason as the Shuttle. Pressure waves from different parts of the airframe at different MACH numbers.

I remember as a kid, a military jet "accidently" went supersonic over Toronto.
It was crazy loud and you can imagine the first words out of everyone's mouth was "what was that???"

That made the evening news for sure.
