Yet another one down

Postby Princess Leia » Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:28 pm

Chinese JH-7 crashed while on exercises with the Russians. Both crew killed.

Surprised by this, was expecting the Russians to punch another SU-24 in before the show was over.

I would have thought the era of the Kfir was over some two decades ago, but I guess not in Columbia. You'd have thought all that coke money could afford them something better.

British forces report loss of 2 Chinooks, both destroyed by airstrikes after they were deemed unrecoverable

USAF E-3 has nosegear failure and front section receives extensive fire damage at Nellis, but this may be repairable if front section is replaced.

British forces report loss of 2 Chinooks, both destroyed by airstrikes after they were deemed unrecoverable
Just to clarify, the two aircraft force-landed, about a week apart, one at least due to hostile fire, with no casualties and were destroyed by UK forces as they were deemed irrecoverable. You can debate the logistics and economics of recovery or not, but it does seem to confirm the unstated truth that we can't hold ground in the theatre, or if we can, not for long. These losses will prove serious for already hard-pressed UK forces.

Bad day for US helos in Afghanistan: 2 USMC attack helicopters in midair (most likely AH-1W) and a "transport helicopter killing 13" probably a CH-47.

This is in addition to the Blackhawck crash on the Navy ship off the coast of Virginia.

India has lost a MiG-27

It is said to be a T-bird with hydraulic problems. No word on which one or who was the pilot.

Very sad indeed.

A Saudi Tornado went down yesterday. Tornadoes and F-15s have been bombing rebels along the border with Yemen, however this was not a combat related loss.
