In the 1960's in suburb-Flyover, we enjoyed the occasional sonic boom, and a couple of cowboy improvised low passes.

I've had the privilege of flying with a number of former Phantom drivers, one former Phantom mechanic, and one former Luftwaffe RF-4 driver.
