Problems with new computer

Postby Not_Karl » Sun Sep 18, 2016 6:28 pm

I built a new computer for MSFS and photo editing, but the graphics don't look as good as those in screenshots on the interwebs. Also, my planephotos appear to have a greenish tint and I fear they would be rejected for "bad color" over there.
Below is a picture of what I see. Any ideas? :(

Yes, I have an idea: You are at Meigs field. And your computer stopped working many years before Meigs field stopped working.

Have you checked the AFCS circuit breakers?

I do not...

...as to the topic of the thread, I think this is a near-perfect example of why we need more regulations for back up reservation computer systems!

This is the rarest of the rare: a machine running a Microsoft OS that cannot possibly have a BSOD!

Nonsense! I took a Pan Am flight to Meigs last week.
Have you checked the AFCS circuit breakers?
I pulled every circuit breaker at hand, as usual.

I know, it took me many years of savings to be able to buy such an advanced computer 8-) .

Oh, it totally can! But you can't see it  .

(Spoiler: the computer is actually based on an AMD Athlon and is half as old as the monitor. I don't own an IBM XT :-(.)

That version of msfs is a trifle newer than the hardware...

(also, is there some reason this forum is using the default phpbb theme?)

Only than the monitor (made in 1984); the rest of the computer -except the video card, made in 1991- is from 2000 or 2001 because of lazyness  (didn't want to mess with floppy disks at the moment). That same lazyness is the reason for using MSFS 3 (1 and 2 are booters).

Maybe it looks better on monochrome displays  .
