Norway could kill hundreds more minke whales next year. Lisbeth Berg-Hansen, the country's fisheries minister, announced on Friday that Norwegian whalers would be allowed to catch 1286 of the marine mammals in 2010 – up from 885 this year.

Whale, robot, snow good. Singing bad, but what can you expect. A bit more meat on the ladies, let them age a few more years and then we're talking.

Anybody has the story behind this pic?
I'm not sure but I expect the owner of the moped sent a strongly worded letter to the local newspaper about this incident.

Jeeezees, how difficult can it be. Whale swimming down the street, scooter came from the right, too fast, brakes too late, crashes into unsuspecting whale. Whale injured, whale loaded onto whale ambulance. Scooter driver busy writing letter to editor of local 'paper. It's all in the picture. So you are stating that the whale was injured and being transported via ambulance prior to the accident with the scooter?

I thank you for taking the time to explain to me the events portrayed in the photo. Being an American and living in a region where whales do not regularly swim or drive down the road I had no fuckin clue as to what was going on.
Carry on.

Taiwanese street, shops showered after gases built up inside
Taiwan Apple Daily via Reuters
Blood and guts litter this street in Tainan, Taiwan, after decomposing organs in the sperm whale in background caused it to explode.
TAIPEI - Residents of Tainan learned a lesson in whale biology after the decomposing remains of a 60-ton sperm whale exploded on a busy street, showering nearby cars and shops with blood and organs and stopping traffic for hours.
The 56-foot-long whale had been on a truck headed for a necropsy by researchers, when gases from internal decay caused its entrails to explode in the southern city of Tainan.
Residents and shop owners wore masks while trying to clean up the spilt blood and entrails.
