Pure Yuletide Madness

Postby Ancient Mariner » Tue Dec 29, 2009 11:14 pm

We did it again. We rode our luges, toboggans, whatever down the 7 km hill named Svineroi. Me single on one luge with a video camera duct taped to my helmet and my sister (53) riding shotgun with my SiL on the other. BiL was backup and floodlight in follow car. Minus 16 C and nice. BiL then towed us all the way back to the cabin and then some, two luges on a rope for 15 kms. A very cool ride.

Check it out.

I want to go sledding now. Biggest hill near the house is only about 150 feet, though, down by the river.

That looks AWESOME Per! You guys are insane! I love it!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ~ WOW, what a ride~!!!

No fair! You guys have steering wheels on your sleds. Are those cars aware that they are going to be sharing a road with you? That would freak me out to see that coming around a bend; of course, that wouldn't happen in Texas.

Here is real sledding, how we do it in Texas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA5YwRKZqRU

They were not freaked out. Those Danes we overtook being towed up were. Being overtaken by two heads smiling and waving in your side window is apparently scary. The steering wheel is just to hang on to, steering is performed by weight shifting and sticking your foot out. Then you crash.

Me filling up on anti-freeze.
fixed.

I somehow get the feeling that I should visit you in winter sometimes. Obviously only to drop off (and subsequently kill) my duty-free allowance.

You are all invited. Winter is good, duty-free is too.

We've had several. They're for kids and they're slow. The ones we use had steel runners and will accommodate three adults.

We used to strip the brakes down and wax the skis. My cousin had one that we modified with downhill skis.

After observing Per for years, I'd have never guessed Akkevitt is a performance enhancing drug.

I'm getting better with age........................and Akkevitt.
Today my SiL and I went downhill skiing in minus 26 C. Akkevitt sustained us and kept us warm.
