A Great Day

Postby Ancient Mariner » Sun Apr 11, 2010 8:55 pm

Walked up and skied down Mount G. Cold, strong beer, Akkevitt, 26C in the sun,Red Hot Chili P on the CD, an empty bottle of Jagermeister and two huge steaks waiting to be put on the coals............and no womenfolks in the vicinity.
How much better can it be?

Looks like a fantastic way to spend the day Per!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ~ WOW, what a ride~!!!

I think you're correct, Sir. Impressive! It was a birthday present a few years back, goes cluck, cluck when you pour......which you do...frequently.
Marc1, the snow on the terrace has just melted, haven't had time to remove the tarp' from the furniture yet, the work bench will do the job.....and yes, it is more manly. ;)

Afraid not, no fresh whale meat available, had to settle for an old cow. Her name was Rosa, but she tasted not half bad.

The real issue is, how did she died?

Trust me, that was exactly how we felt. That was Saturday, biking to work today my legs cramped up. I'm getting too old for this shit, but I'll never admit that, or give in to my SiL. Never.

Yeah it's a D70 with some kind of unusual 3rd party Sigma(?) I've not seen before.

Could be a Sigma, I remember vaguely that it is a fixed 150mm 'cause I had to back up like mad to compose. London not in the calender at moment, will let you know if otherwise.
Beer in small gold cans are something smuggled from Denmark or Germany, 5.9% and quite nice (lethal).

A few more pictures from A Great Day, while I'm waiting for my lazy bum SiL to edit the video.

This the Goal.
Image

This me wobbling first steps, steep stuff.
Image

This me wobbley, wobbling next to last steps before the Summit, really steep stuff.
Image

This be the Summit Lodge, still well and truly closed.
Image

This be the butt-clenching way down. Black dots be people, not just crappy dust on SiL's dirty Nikon.
Image

We be still alive, looking back up, halfway down.
Image

This be our cheap video gear, thank Odin and Tor for helmet, otherwise duct-taped to me head.
Image

Now the Manly Reward.
Image

And the Manly Seasoning, salt and ground black pepper, only.
Image

And last, but not least.....The Very Manly Chef, thank you, apron. Additional manly seasoning be ash from cigarette.

Per, with your knowledge of good quality drinking, you still drink Slots Guld??? I know it is cheap, but come on. Could have been worse, of course, could have been Carlsberg or Tuborg.

Cheap stuff indeed. Bought two cases duly smuggled into the Kingdom by evil furrin truck driver (thank you SiL). Avoiding customs and excise makes it taste heaven. Not a beer connoisseur, if cold, wet and strong, I'm happy.

Per, clean your sensor. Those dust bunnies are not good.

Get a rocket blower. If it doesn't shift it, send it to Nikon for a clean.

Great man-pics though!
