ban all sunvisors

In this curious tale, a falling sunvisor caused an engine to be deactivated.

Uh. really? I have witnessed situations where something falling caused an unexpected or unlikely outcome. I once threw a piece of card out of the kitchen door in my apartment towards the recycling bin, it struck a fixed lamp and caused the substantial glass dome to smash. This, at the time, was a bit like picking a lock with a feather - something supremely unlikely to happen, but did. I have also had a situation where a bottle of vintage French wine fell about three metres onto its top, causing a significant dent in the wooden floor, off the top of a storage rack - without breaking the bottle (baffling). Strange and seemingly highly unlikely events do happen. Welcome speculation as to whether this is one of those - or - perhaps something else?

***Strange and seemingly highly unlikely events do happen***
That’s a reason we are all here, right?

…and I’d bet the aeroengineers thought the switches were impervious to things (clipboards, coffee, obscure-god knows what else) would do it.

As an ass hat, I imagine they’ll improve the visor mounting and call it done.

I suppose we have to give this a genuine minute of thought if it could have caused the Air India affair.

Crap, I’m guessing there’s an AI CVR coming in the next hour. “Oh, zee vishor has fallen off…”

Right now would be a good time for everyone in the forum to don their tinfoil hats.

..and make sure they're properly secured, so they do not fall off and shut off our engines.
