Music composed by: Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, MORE
What's that? I only listen to real, quality music, like L-Gante

Indeed, the soundtrack is precisely why I watched that movie, among others that I will comment on when it's Not_2:30am Argie time  , but it is Not_as prominent as I expected and would have liked :( . Pink Floyd rules on the final scene, though

A craptastic movie with an important message?

Not_Karlie has been intrigued by "Percy" (Ralph Thomas, 1971) since he was a lil' wee Notie_Karlie because of its soundtrack by The Kinks. On it he discovered, at a young age, an instrumental version of the great classic "Lola".
He has finally seen it. It is crap....

...BUT it might solve a mystery for us:
The protagonist suffers the nairing of his nairy-bits. That is cause of shame, consternation, humiliation, jokes and a failed sexual encounter.

Could THAT, and Not_the fact that we are 50-year-old losers living in our parents' basement, be the reason for our chronic virginity?

It is a very pretty picture, apart from needing a little contrast tweaking. But we (Not_snobby photographers) have already seen gorgeous shots rejected for things that actually added to the atmosphere of the picture...

I think many OLDER persons have viewed a 35 mm slide from their youth….and noted the nice, bright colors, the greens of summer, on what looked like a beautiful sunny day combined with happy memories…

There’s the occasional classic airliner photo that exemplifies this.

The particular film definitely brightens things a bit, and I can relate to brightly colored memories.

I wonder if photoshop has a Kodachrome mode- it would be fun to apply it to Jetphotos and then submit them there.

In-forum thread-lock within 18 hours?

Postby Not_Karl » Fri Dec 01, 2023 5:22 am

Gabie, there, told LHie that his worst flight legroom-wise was in a Seven Hundred and Forty Seven. Will the fact that it was an ElAl -200 and Not_a Lufthansa -400 prevent a TOTAL PHOTOGRAPHY-RATHER-THAN-AVIATION-FORUM DISASTER!!!!!!?

Legroom-wise. Yes. I was 17. It also featured the worst turbulence I ever experienced (until a couple of years ago when I experienced a worse one in an AvHerald-featured incident flight)

That El-Al 747 flight debunked 2 myths:
- Bigger planes are more comfortable.
- Turbulence is felt less in bigger planes.
(The 747-200 was as-big-as-they-come back then)

Now that I think of it, it also featured one of the worse long-haul meals I ever "enjoyed".

Al in all, a very memorable flight (together with the AA 777 one).

Is that a myth?

I have done 30+ transatlantic legs on a 747-400, over 100 on an A340-600 and 2 on an A380. Half a dozen on a variety of 777s and a couple on a 787. I have done multiple NY-LA in 767s, 737s and A320s.

I have done many dozens of legs in A319s A320s in Europe batting around between the mainland, Ireland and the UK
It's irritating how small the sample size is, but the A380 was the smoothest of all the flights.

The A380 was the smoothest.

Crap, don’t ask Gabriel.

I think it depends.

The higher wing loading should help, but E-145s have similar wing loading and therefore a very similar, weight/wing area. (Holy circular sentence)

The planes go fast (making turbulence worse) and high-level winds can be crazier and faster than low level ones.

Then, individual flights vary. My worst experience was landing at Salt lake with stormy rain showers at the edge of mountains.

(I will guess that you are talking about turbulence)

Partially. Wing loading is a factor. The higher the wing loading, the less vertical acceleration under the same updrafts / downdrafts.

Stall speed is a good indicator of relative wing loading. And take-off and landing speeds are a good indicator of relative stall speed.

A 747 or A380 or 777 ("heavy" and "super" planes) have a much faster take-off speed than a 737 or A320. Think 180 vs 140 kts.
But the landing speed for all tends to be more similar.
That is because while the MTOW / empty weight ratio is more or less similar, at take off much more of the load that is not empty weight tends to be fuel in a large long-haul plane than in a smaller plane.

So we can say that while turbulence tends to feel worse in a 737 than in a 747 during take-off, climb and a good part of the cruise, the sensitivity to turbulence as fuel is burned increases more for bigger planes all planes are more or less the same by approach and landing.

"The smoothest" is not a good way to rate how sensitive to turbulence a plane is. You can have a perfectly smooth flight in a Piper Tomahawk (I had a few and they are AMAZING). If you had enough exposure to all types to have encountered all regular levels of turbulence in all of them, the question would be which one was the worst, the second worst, and so on.

But of course it is very hard to be exposed to that. In my case my worst was in a 777, my second worst in a 747, and my 3rd worst in a Fokker F-27. And believe me it is not because it is a parabola where biggest and smallest are worse and the ones in the middle are better.

Also, I hope that the 737 in the 80's livery is fine.

Wrong type of autopilot and poorly trained operators on said autopilot?

Of course, I’m stupid and think chocks are chocks and kind of fundamental to use (although we don’t use them on light planes very much.

Footnote: Apologyos if I got your sexo wrongo.

P.S. Any WISE thoughts on the TN YouTuber crash for the, albeit duplicated, post here, the wise forum.
