5/2022, WSJ

Apparently WN had discussions with Verbal as to whether pedantic details about control systems should be included in the aircraft manual.

I’m sure Evan sees a bigger conspiracy and would want additional management fired.

It would be interesting to know what was said, and thought, and if there were strong statements, or if it was corporate box checking and group hugs.

Flight / Risk

I watched this on Prime.

I think Evan produced it.

They film is pretty hard on Boeing executives. and corporate America and our great government oversight organizations…

Fate is the Hunter

Postby 3WE » Sat Dec 30, 2023 11:53 am

since being a kid, I remember building and fixing things and marveling how nuts and bolts came undone.

When flying 172s, I remember the (procedural) opportunity to scour nuts and bolts, and did so with fundamental concern.

“Fate is the Hunter”: I seem to recall that this is a climactic part of the story.

Reccomendation:

We need more regulation and oversight of lock washers. They sell them at farm stores and [not_itlalis on]we use them when bolting plows to tool bars.

Enough of hell-better aeroengineers and their cowboy cobbling of control linkages.

Boeing 737 MAX Jets Inspected For Bolts
BY BEN GLICKMAN
Boeing 737 MAX airplanes are being inspected for potential loose bolts in the rudder control system.

The Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday it was closely monitoring the inspections and would consider additional action based on the discovery of loose or missing hardware.

Boeing has asked operators of newer single-aisle airplanes to inspect certain tie rods that control rudder movement, according to the FAA.

The FAA said Boeing recommended the inspections after an operator discovered a bolt with a missing nut while performing routine maintenance.

Boeing found a nut that wasn’t properly tightened in an undelivered aircraft.

“The issue identified on the particular airplane has been remedied,” a Boeing representative said. The company is recommending inspections “out of an abundance of caution.”

Indeed! Verbie and Bradley fixed all that…or did they forget to tighten the bolt?

And we shouldn’t be complaining, it’s not like the assembly is cheap, brittle composites, prone to break just because someone uses the rudder.

Nice to see Boeing referencing DeHaviland greatest hits on the 737 frankenmonster.
When will they let this geriatric model die with dignity?

The 737 Max design is like putting silicone tits on your 85 year old Grannie.

I ass-ume Eric’s links are to some window issues…

Trying to be like AirBus, but without the bright lights?

Can we have a clean-sheet airplane yet?

I’m missing the great 757 again, too

Questions for Verbal:

Which are all the 737 versions that may be fitted with a plugged mid-aft emergency exit?
And is the design of such plugged exit the same for all of them?

I found the answer: It's just the MAX-9, but most of them are fitted with an actual door, not a door plug.
The FAA estimates some 117 airplanes affected WW (grounded by the Emergency AD).

I’m being Evan here, but ATC MADE work for them.

Emergency declared, hand off…”are you an emergency?”

“We are depressuized”…”what is the nature of your emergency?”

“We have 1xx folks and yyy fuel”…”What’s your souls and fuel?”

“Do you have Zulu”. WTF-just tell them, and don’t make them Dick with radios!

“We want the approach”…”are you too high”…”No”…”are you sure you’re not too high?”

STPHUGOID UP, GET OTHER PLANES OUT OF THE WAY, DO WHAT THEY ASK AND TELL THEM THEY OWN THE UNIVERSE!!!!!

I wonder if the ATC person used to work in tech support and all they know how to do is read a script?

Have you hacked my computer (or telephone)? Lots of fun with customer service the past 48 hours. The level of HELP, downright crappy. Compliance to script procedures- perfect.

"With whom to I have the pleasure of speaking"

"I am very sorry to hear of your problem and do apologize, I can DEFINATELY help you."

I was given some wrong account numbers and ONE PERSON WANTED TO CHANGE MY NAME... Ironingly, I struggled to understand someone telling me sixty.....she meant six three.....I don't know if it would have come across better had she said sixtree....probably not. And the pronunciation of S vs. X. (Age update I sometimes do not nail the official aviation phonetics, but do use them at times).

The ATC parallels are a little bit frightening. For most ATC recordings I hear, there is no delay in the damn controller asking "souls and fuel on board"....sure, it's good information for the firefighters, MAYBE JUST MAYBE ADDRESS THIER ISSUE, GRANT THEM THE WORLD AND GIVE THEM A COUPLE MINUTES...unless they are on final with the fire trucks wanting to know (more bitching- it's not like the fire brigade EVER saves the airplane...why DOES the fuel matter?

"State your intentions".... so cruel...why not "What do you need?".

And Descend to 10,000....or "Descend to 12, and I'm getting other traffic out of the way.

Oh boysie... https://theaircurrent.com/feed/dispatch ... spections/

My suggestion (inspired by Evanie): whenever you board an airplane, bring a set of wrenches and check all fasteners for proper torque before the plane departs.

You don't have to have a screw loose to work at Boeing. But it helps...
