Things I hate:

Almost, but not quite, anyone currently serving in the Illinois General Assembly (a couple are ok, fire the rest)
"Fraternal" organizations that sell out instead of supporting the people they are supposed to support
Celebrities acting like celebrities
Propaganda spewers masquerading as actual news organizations

I'll probably think of some more after drinking some more coffee.
Oh yea, I also hate running out of coffee.

To be fair, the bolts weren't missing when the aircraft left the factory. They're just attempting "unscheduled deplaning".

If the photos I linked in the other thread are representative, the bolts are definitely there, just not tight. As in, they look finger-tight minus a couple of turns.

I suppose that "the other thread" is the one where we are discussing the incident (737 Max troubles;:The latest news...)
viewtopic.php?t=7654

I looked but I can't find the pictures you mention.
Plus I've seen no pictures of the accident door.
And the NTSB (who did find the door) said that no bolts were found so far, although that doesn't mean that they were not installed.

Now, if you are referring to the pictures in the videos, yes, they show the bolts but they are not from the accident plane.

Additionally, these bolts have nuts and safety wire. If the nut and safety wire is there, being "finger-tight minus 2 turns" would not have any impact. The bolts act just as a passing pi, as long as they are there they serve their function they don't need to be tight, and the safety wire would keep the nut from coming off.

That said, I agree with you. The door must have had at least 1 bolt installed, otherwise it would have opened in the 1st pressurization.
Now, was the nut installed? Was the safety wire installed? If not, I can see the bolt coming off.

Does this link work for you? https://www.reddit.com/r/aviation/comme ... _a_united/

I think I saw in the discussion there someone said those bolts use self-locking nuts vs. safety wire or cotter pins.

There's a little more info here too: https://www.flyingmag.com/ntsb-identifi ... 737-max-9/

NTSB form your Flying link:
We have not yet recovered the four bolts that restrain it from its vertical movement, and we have not yet determined if they existed there.
The reddit picture is not from the accident plane. What are you trying to show?
You can clearly see the castellated nut with the safety wire (or cotter pin) in the bottom hinge assembly.
Now, one of the 2 screws in the hinge bracket frame seems to be loose.

That the accident plane is not the only one one with issues.
Now, one of the 2 screws in the hinge bracket frame seems to be loose.
That's the one I was talking about. And I was "ass"uming with the one bolt loose, others could be too... though just one loose bolt is one too many.
