Flying Vet' Maurice Kirk needed hospital treatment following the crash in Lower Durston....

...The AAIB report said: "The pilot confirmed that there was sufficient fuel on the aircraft but did not know what caused the misfire and loss of power.He (The Pilot) said: "There I was with a dead donkey, out of height, airspeed and ideas - all at the same time.
Not only is he a bad pilot, also a terrible Vet by the sounds of things...

It’s only Jan 6, but that may be the post of the year for 2024, and Sickbags personal best.

This is highly confusing.

In all the various discussions of energy state in aircraft I've seen, this is the first one that references donkeys.

Slightly unusual; but they would nonetheless be useful to power a treadmill to spin the propellor.
