Update: Ural Airlines Plans To Fly A320 Out Of Field! By Spyros Georgilidakis | September 17, 2023 Initially, the information we had was that the flight went around during its final approach into Omsk, because of a hydraulic issue. It now seems that this was inaccurate. The airline and Russian auth...

Re: Ural A320 forced landing at Omsk

The comments about this Rural landing are instructive. (another commenter came up with that new name for the airline.) Examples: By ATC on Wednesday, Sep 13th 2023 10:31Z Russians need lots of spare parts, so this aircraft gonna be a donor for other stolen ones. Wrong decision, good landing By dezso...

Pilot In Fatal Balloon Crash Impaired By Drugs

The NTSB says a balloon pilot was likely impaired by cannabis and cocaine when he and four passengers died in a sightseeing flight in Albuquerque in June of 2021. In its final report (search WPR21FA242 here) on the accident, the board cited the drug use as a contributing factor. “The pilot’s cavity ...

Leaving aside the airship reference, there is this further down under Crime and Detectives. John was a police officer, and Mary was a serial killer, and just like that you think you know how that’s going to end, don’t you; well, John lived in New York and Mary lived in London, and they were both mod...

Re: JetPhoto Pre-Screening Thread...

Here is a pretty good book i picked up a number of years ago. Written in 1962 it discusses all aspects of a TWA 707 flight including preparing the plane and the background of the 5 crew members. The pilot met Charles Lingberg and First Officer flew bombers in WWII. The navigator (shown in the book u...

Re: JetPhoto Pre-Screening Thread...

Regarding the 5-man B377 crew, navigators were used up until the early 1960's - they even used sextants that would poke through a small hole in the roof of the cockpit. So that addresses one person. I believe some longer-distance flights also had a second officer. So there you go.

Here is flight information for a Max 8 flying on a 2-hour flight out of Everette, WA. Examine the altitude and air speed chart - looks like the crew was fighting the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System for much of the flight. During the loop they got down to 1800 feet. Oh the humanity. h...

Not to worry. The following article says that Delta may be retiring them soon - or it may not. While Delta has a considerable number of Boeing 717s at its disposal, not all of them are in use. Indeed, 65 are listed as being active by ch-aviation, with six undergoing maintenance and 19 in storage. Th...
