Re: F.A.O.: 3WE

I never did that. And probably I would not do it because I am too coward for that.
Doing the right thing out of fear is better than doing the wrong thing, I suppose. I'd rather you did the right thing out of integrity, but then I'm probably just being idealistic.

Re: Ban all helicopters…

I still don't see why, when helo pilots can choose to fly 1K or a few K about the ground to avoid hitting... stuff... they regularly choose not to.
Or why a current head of state would undertake a journey of 400+ miles in a chopper in the first place...

Re: New Video of 321 Power Cord Fire

I will open by saying that this is the first time in my 17 years in the business I have seen something like this happen. Ground AC power units have been known to fail, but I have never seen one start a fire. If there is a short, the big, Square D breakers flip, and the whole thing shuts down. Moreov...

Take it easy...
That's not just Puerto Rico, I feel like most of Latin America doesn't bother with final "s" most of the time.

Re: An interesting theory

I got a beer on it flyboy. As a gas, by water is among the lighter molecules. First: While I don’t think we put RH or dewpoint into our fancy E-6B computers for density altitude, the air is thinner/higher altitude on humider days. Water is a lighter molecule: . Roughly 18 AMUs versus 28 for nitroge...

I’m, I think you mean 2/15 (or 2/13) increase in density altitude.

water is lighter than oxygen,

Re: Pontificating on hard landings...

Part 1: I have a genuine question: ARGUABLY, and from the vantage point of a keyboard, should LH-B'747's guys maybe just "salvaged" the bounce instead of going around? You don't necessarily have great airspeed and engine power right then, so why fight getting those things back when you ar...

I'd ask flyboy if he felt there was any airbus logic he thought was really wrong, but I believe his response will be: Better cooling on the brakes. (Shit, we're back to braking again).
Better cooling would be nice, but that's not an "Airbus logic issue".

Re: The Eidelwiess affair…

But what about the initial inability to climb? Do you agree that the plane was abnormally struggling to climb? Not really, no. Looks about right for a heavy 343 to me. They were going to Cancun, so probably fairly bulky. What about wake vortex from a plane landing in the intersecting runway shortly...

Re: The Eidelwiess affair…

This is an odd one, for sure. I've watched the video several times now in hopes of getting a clearer view not of the aircraft's attitude but of control surface positioning, specifically if the elevators were ever deflected downwards. The video is not very clear but it does NOT appear that elevators ...

Be sure to follow the type-specific SOP co...

Question to flyboy: Do you see these taxiway changes from numerous, frequently angled taxiways to a more regular, 90-degree crossing as an important, much-needed improvement.
Not really, I prefer high-speed taxiways, generally speaking.

I watched a couple of her remaining videos, and what struck me was not her "lack of knowledge", but that I felt like her heart was never in any of this. She did not seem to especially like neither that airplane, nor flying in general. Believe it or not, I agree with you. Also, he seems to...
