Have you seen this one, Giles?

The moment of shame for Australian cricket (which led to a change of cricket rules - now every ball that bounces more than twice before reaching the opponents crease is a no-ball).

From the wikipedia entry:
Oh my, he broke a tea cup. The horror!... for long after the affair there was silence in the dressing room, which was broken suddenly and unexpectedly by fellow player Mark Burgess smashing a tea cup.

I once heard this joke, I hope I recall it correctly.
In the UK a woman walks to the police office claiming that she had been raped. The officer asks her if she could describe the man. She replies "White pants, while shirt, white hat ..."
The officers states "Sounds like a cricket player" to which the woman replies "Oh, that could be ! He wasn't in very long"

I'm just amused at the availability of a teacup in the locker room to be smashed. Only cricket.Did you expect him to smash a bottle of beer?Oh my, he broke a tea cup. The horror!

Sure, when playing Tests (5 day games) they do actually have a tea break.

In Sri Lanka is a ground which is used for international games which is notorious for it's population of (highly venomenous) snakes which reside on the boarder of the field usually underneath some marketing boards. Last year when England played Sri Lanka at that very ground the Sri Lankan actually tried to hit the ball into the direction of the snakes. The English players were not too impressed by their efforts.

Help a Yank time....
In this video the batsman is declared, I believe, bowled out when his helmet comes off and hits the stump. Wouldn't he be out LBW even if the helmet hadn't hit the stump? Or does a ball to the head not count as LBW?

Right, sorry. Here's the link.Link for video?

I think I answered my own question in the meantime -- it is not LBW because the ball would not have otherwise contacted the stumps/wicket (too high).

If the trajectory of the ball would hit the stumps, then its LBW. I am guessing, because I can not see the video, but if the ball hit the helmet then it was already higher than then stumps.Help a Yank time....

Re: Funny cricket moments of 2006 and 2007
Another correction: he would have actually been dismissed for a hit wicket, not bowled out as I said in my original post. I'll understand this tea and cucumber sport evenetually.

Re: Funny cricket moments of 2006 and 2007
I try this every time I´m in South Africa (every two months). Being dumb and all that, I´m beginning to figure the rules .......... I think. But I´ll probably never figure the kick of the game.Another correction: he would have actually been dismissed for a hit wicket, not bowled out as I said in my original post. There might be a chance if they start now playing cricket in a pitch dark stadium with a luminous bat and ball.
