It's happening again!

"New" version of MSFS coming in 2024, allegedly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3xp-SnZDoY

3WEie should be particularly interested in the bit starting at 1:02.

Definitely appears evolutionary rather than revolutionary but that's okay, it still looks very cool.

Yes, and it is evolving towards the "game". Missions, cool graphics, ... balloons?????
Not a single mention to new airplanes, improved model, improved systems, etc.

The video did feature an A-10 which is one I've been wanting. I bought a third-party one but it's awful.

But between built-in and third-party, there are already a ton of aircraft available for that sim. I've got the PMDG DC-6 and 737 and they're both amazing.

Re model & systems... are there any particular issues you have in mind? There were definitely a lot of glitches when the game was first released, but the devs have been working hard and have fixed a large number of things. I'll admit I don't "fly" it all that often, but these days I rarely encounter any problems.

Well, I've used it very few times at someone else's house, I don't have a computer good enough to run it.

In the planes that come with the program the systems are not very realistic and the dynamics are "questionable", I would say. Maybe that is intentional to focus on the sim itself and leave the rest to the 3rd party business.

One issue I really hate, which is a minor issue unless you are Argentinian is that the ILS for AEP / SABE (that is Aeroparque Jorge Newbery which is Buenos Aires' downtown airport, the airport with most traffic in Argentina by large) is off the centerline by like 40 degrees. Try it, it is useless.
I've got the PMDG DC-6 and 737 and they're both amazing.
Try "Fly The MadDog". It is probably one of the most expensive but they are the guys who developed the MadDog for FS98, which was the only realistic add-on plane back then (from a systems, performance and handling point of view) to the point that actual MD-80 pilots were using it to practice in preparation to their anual sim session. And they have been just kept working on improving this product ever since (unlike PDMG, this is the ONLY plane they have and always had). I have not tried the latest versions (las I tried was the FS200 version, which was the second one) but I've heard it is actually the best in realism.

If I ever get MSFS, this for sure will be my first paid add-on plane. That I love the MD-80 might have something to do with it too.

Hmmm…

I don’t know how many versions behind I am.

This seems to be a helicopter-lovers version.

Graphics look cool, but how is it for real word weather?

My favorite flaw was approach lights busting through fog (10 years ago)

I still also long for the ability to “turn on” Meigs field, AS WELL AS FOUR Flyover-area light-plane airports that no longer exist…

AND, the challenge of fitting instruments and the outside view into the space you have… never have tried the big TV…

…and if the planes act halfway right.

Not sure how important ag planes are to me…there’s got to be a LOT of seat of pants to that flying, altogether…

…or is it VR half goggles with switches on a touch screen   :?

I would also hope that one would be able to turn on Kai Tak and a few others.

Kai Tak is available from a third party... Stapleton appears not to be available (yet).

IS THERE AN [EXPELETIVE] BUTTON YOU CAN CLICK TO GET MEIGS FIELD????????????????????

Worthless damn programmers and marketers and reviewers [More cursing and ugly emojae]

I would also like to get a button for some airport with the code K3WE.

Ok, I guess it will be available from a third party, but damn, does no one see this as being and important feature that I have to go to an obscure aviation forum to find out about it?

Yeah it's not in the product from Microsoft and I wish it were, but it's definitely available: https://secure.simmarket.com/z-design-s ... msfs.phtml
