How do you figure out your taxes? Every time I hear/read something on the subject I'm EXTREMELY confused.

With the aid of a computer? 
Luckily my wife does ours, but I've done mine and others' many times in the past and it's painful. Very painful.
And if that's not enough, she and I both used to work for a company that sold income-tax-preparation software for accountants. ~40 people (divided about 50/50 between programmers and product specialists) working full time all year just to keep up with changes.

It's not that difficult, most of the time one only has to pay Federal taxes and those in the state of their residence, if there are any (I live in Florida where there is no state income tax). That said, there may be some liability in the state of employment as well. I am not sure why the guy is asking reddit, a qualified accountant would be far better equipped to answer that question.How do you figure out your taxes?
