Took a lot of effort to get to the payoff, but the controller laughing while he worked at the end was classic.

This is hilarious! I remember this exchange, I was there when it happened. In fact, my voice is on that recording.

None of the pilots on that recording sounded drunk (or naked), so I think flyboy is lying.

Well, naturally. Since they were flying out of JFK, they weren't anywhere near the woods.

I'm sure that flyboy knows the iron rule that says no alcohol within 24 ft of the plane.

Actually, the cat's been out of the bag for everyone, but Spud for at least two years. He, on the other hand, is at least on his fifth absolute certain guess on who I work for. He was absolutely sure every time. Must be because of the fine aviation professional he is.

The really amazing thing is to think of the odds against this happening. We have, what, three full-time professional pilots who are regular contributors on this website? Someone extracts a 5 minute clip from ATC and one of the three is on the tape.

That's downright chartworthy.

Speculative...we must wait until the final report is issued.
