Sound of Airbus Ferret Chewing Explained

Postby J » Fri Sep 06, 2019 3:05 pm

Many of us exposed to Airbus' have experienced the sound of the ferret chewing on hydraulic lines coming up through the floor during engine start, etc. If you don't think this is a problem, read this: https://jalopnik.com/how-cute-ferret-li ... 1788013196

However, it turns out there isn't a ferret or a barking dog down in the cargo hold but there is the hydraulic power transfer unit as explained here:

In related news, water is wet. By the way, there is way to prevent that sound, when I was an F/O, hardly any of my passengers had to suffer through it, and I teach it to my F/Os also. And yes, it's an approved procedure.

Funny, to me it sounds like someone trying to hacksaw through a hydraulic line...

Kidding aside, I'm with flyboy. Airplanes make noises... if you're going to occupy an airplane you should be prepared to deal with same.

The thought of a dental drill and a cheap composite tooth comes to mind...

I know its not news- but curious as to why Boeings don't do it AND flyboys cool, alternative, type specific procedure.
