Two questions:
1. Does your retirement dream include a travel-worthy, personal aeroplanie? (Or will you just sit in the back on airliners and offer CRM help as a pilot and/or EMT?)
2. If it’s yes to an aeroplanie- What type(s) or make/model(s)?
Thanks in advance.
If Dummy Pilot cares to answer, I would be similarly interested.

And do you get better treatment by telling the crew you're a retired pilot?1. Does your retirement dream include a travel-worthy, personal aeroplanie? (Or will you just sit in the back on airliners and offer CRM help as a pilot and/or EMT?)

1. It does not. In fact, despite being a die-hard aviation enthusiast for as long as I can remember, I don't think I ever really wanted to own an airplane. Perhaps that's partly because an airplane I might actually want will never be within my financial reach, while buying one just to putt around the pattern seems like a waste. I'd much rather blow that money on a classic Ferrari or Aston Martin. Two questions:

2. If money were no object, I would love to own the airplane that until recently was registered VP-BAT (it has a US tail # now). You can look it up.

I guess it depends. I recently took a trip to Istanbul on TK, and, despite being in full uniform, was not moved up to Business even though the only people who were in Business were TK's own deadheading crewmembers. Not that I expected to get moved up, but you get the point. Even an active pilot doesn't necessarily get better treatment, let alone a retiree. And do you get better treatment by telling the crew you're a retired pilot?1. Ha! Fly that 37 times around the pattern, each time rolling out on final with a handful of power levers and several hundred thousand pounds of luxury behind you.Quote= flyboy: VP-BAT

Fun fact: there is currently NO hangar available anywhere in Florida north of Miami that would be big enough to accommodate that thing.Ha!
