So Boeing is going to start making oversized, high-bypass-turbofan-powered Cessnas?

I do not_know the answer to your question.

HOWEVER,

It is likely that Boeing intends to sell stock to investors who want to cash in on the next great aeroplanie, and investors do like snazzy graphics of plans for shiny objects.

So Boeing is going to start making a cheap-composite, high wing 717, a relic from the '60s that should have been retired by now?
Fixed. Let's hope they don't MCAS it to compensate for the change in engine position.

Flyover News:

The Silver Arch McDonalds will shut down the F-18 production line in 2025…

I guess our US fighter pilots will shift to a fighter version of the 737. 2 engines ==> 2 engines, with no need for retraining.

Why do you hate making aeroplanies, Verbal?

Fixed. Or maybe you will buy Chinese fighters instead (like you did with trainies).

Indeed.

This scene, recreated with 737-F18As would be most cool.

There might be improvements in missile carrying capacity, but the lav might have to be smaller than those on the F-18. Bradley will have to update us.
