If both pilots (and any other person in the cockpit) go to the the lav together, the risk of one of them locking the cockpit door with nefarious intent is eliminated. Think about it.
Space constraints might arise in the 737Max, though.

Does the flush lever have a guard?

Type specific procedures are important. In many cases, pulling up will not work.
