Very cool. In the EARLY 1980s, Flyover had some loudspeakers lined up on the perving fence, tuned to the tower. I THINK there was no TCA, and I seem to recall occasional phraseology such as: in “20 miles out”.

They were free; however.

[Moderate sarcasm]Once upon a time, there was also was a 9-channel audio system and United airlines devoted one to the airplane’s communication radio, and you could listen to your crew. I imagine that this sometimes resulted in us giving advice to pilots.

... it has since been repurposed to allow pax to watch cat videos in surround sound.

...to distract them from the fact they've had to shoehorn themselves into seats designed for a toddler. :mrgreen:
