I hate reading about UN aircraft in trouble, an old colleague of mine flies for them (or at least used to) along with his wife, they've been close to some quite hairy situations.

For Ohioans, driving to Ontario means driving through Detroit. It's a little scary, but nothing more than a nuisance. I can only imagine what Canadians traveling in the opposite direction must think when it is their first impression of the United States. Not really. Flew in and out of Detroit twice just today.

You may have a point, but I gotta tell you, if your first impression of Canada were to be based on, say, Toronto, that wouldn't be all that terribly impressive either. Looks (and certainly smells) like Madras.

I've only been to Vancouver and southern Ontario (not as far as Toronto). For Ohioans, driving to Ontario means driving through Detroit. It's a little scary, but nothing more than a nuisance.
