Plane Crashed Dropping Toilet Paper
What kind of a pilot drops toilet paper from an aircraft? Uh, well, never mind. IDAHO PLANE THAT CRASHED WAS DROPPING TOILET PAPER MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -- Idaho authorities say the pilot of an airplane flying over a Republican party gathering had been dropping rolls of toilet paper before it crashed. ...

Re: Italian cruise ship runs aground
Per, What do you make of the location of the damage? To me is seems a bit peculiar that the damage is so far aft, with no damage further forward on the hull. The rock seems to be pretty deeply embedded, so wouldn't there have to be fairly significant lateral movement? What would cause such movement?...

The metaphor to the state of economy is very apt. I'll tell you what I think the problem is with these boats and you don't have to be a marine architect or an economist to realise it: The part that makes the most money in the ship is the white bit that sits above the water, the part that doesn't ma...

Who killed Knut? Although the cause of death has not yet been determined, serious concerns over his treatment at Berlin Zoo have already been raised. 'I kan't komprehend what happened there. He was happy before, there were no signs of anything - it's so shocking,' said fan Eveline Litowski, who sai...

Who gets the home field advantage for the League Championship Series? If both teams are division champions, the one with the better record. If two division champions have identical records, they use head-to-head records. If that is tied, I don't have a clue. If one team is a wild-card, the division...

England was settled by Saxons . We want it back! Pipe No it wasn't, it was settled by the Celts(aka the Britons), who also settled Brittany and Galicia. The Anglians and Saxons piled in with the Romans but decided to stay longer. The Frisians, Jutes and Norse also traded, settled and conquered ther...

i have memories of a baseball player (pitcher?) who collapsed after pitching a ball. this was maybe mid to late 80's early 90's? i think he did died. who was it? I'm guessing you're talking about Dave Dravecky. He had a cancerous tumor removed from his arm, but amazingly later returned to the game....

when it is obvious that the pitcher is intentionally throw balls to walk the batter, why cant he just say "walk" instead of throwing 4 balls? In many levels, this is allowed, but not in pro ball. As crazy as it may seems, occasionally things go wrong on an intentional walk. The basic prob...

The other day TB Rays' Matt Garzer tossed a no-hitter in the game against the Tigers. However, there was at least one situation where there was a runner on first base (and the defense performed a double play later on). This leads to the question, how the runner got there in the first place when he ...

But he was safe, wasn't he? He got back to the bag on time, but was subsequently tagged out while rolling on the ground clutching his balls. Had he stopped to call time-out, he would have been safe, but I don't think that crossed his mind. Arrieta is credited with a pickoff as the tag was made duri...

The pickoff: When a runner takes a large leadoff from a base, the pitcher or catcher may quickly throw to the base in an attempt to catch the runner off guard and have the fielder tag the runner out. The link below will show a new technique of the pickoff that was used successfully last night. http...

Re: What does "Walk-Off" mean?
Indeed. While this makes no sense from a logical standpoint, it sounds entirely plausible. It's a special Yankees-only rule. Base runners for the Yankees get two bases on a passed ball. All other teams get one base. Hope this helps.

Re: What does "Walk-Off" mean?
The ball went into the dogout so the runner in second was allowed 2 bases. You've got me stumped to the point I had to look up the rule, as my undestanding was only one base would be awarded. As I read the rule, while not impossible, it would have to be a really weird play for the awarding of a two...

Re: What does "Walk-Off" mean?
A box-score question: The other day I was watching a game where the pitcher had a very low ERA (earned run average) and pitched a wild pitch that allowed two runners to score. How will this be put in the box score? The question is because if the runs are marked with an error, you will be helping to...
